PT23018

35mm film photograph, 2023

Taken from the upper platform of the Clark & Lake CTA station in downtown Chicago. This station is open 24/7; many people complain about this particular stop on account of the prevalent stench of urine, the noise and quantity of trains passing through, and the various goings-on associated with publicly-accessible facilities open late at night. However, Clark & Lake is my favorite station. I love the orange sodium lights, the huge range in people, and the pigeons missing feet. I’ve seen people nodding out on heroin next to people heading to work, next to a mother and child next to slice of pizza. Beautiful place.
